Sept. 18, 2016 SEATTLE -- Seattle women's soccer scored the game-winning goal in the 17th minute and held off Gonzaga in a 1-0 victory Sunday. In their final non-conference match of the season, GU had a 9-6 advantage in shots taken, but it was Seattle that placed five shots on goal, compared to the Zags' four. Jennifer Plummer scored her first goal of the season off of a loose ball. The Redhawks (3-4-1) kicked a corner kick into the box and the ball bounced off of a player and Plummer struck it into the net. Natasha Howe and Ayana Robles were both credited with an assist. The Bulldogs (4-3-2) pressured Seattle, but Ashley Routh made four saves in the match. Allison Seifert had three for Gonzaga. Callie Best, Karley Baggerly and Sydney Anderson all took two shots for GU, and all had one on goal. Mari Kneisel had a shot hit the crossbar in the 55th minute.
Gonzaga has a break before it opens West Coast Conference play at home against Loyola Marymount on Sept. 30. Live video and stats will be available on GoZags.com.
