IRVINE, Calif. – Gonzaga University dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to UC Irvine Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs had their record fall to 8-11 after allowing UCI (12-6-2) goals in the 14th and 84th minutes. Gonzaga did outshoot the Anteaters 12-10 but Irvine starting keeper Kala Gabler made eight saves to keep the Zags off the board.

Gonzaga was able to put together a couple offensive attacks late in the first half as Emily Hutchins and Ashley Riley each fired shots on goal but had them turned away. Both teams later held strong on defense throughout the second half before Kate Berrini added her second goal of the afternoon to put the game out of reach.

Bulldogs starting keeper Amy Danielson finished with four saves while Sarah Rhodes and Christi D’Agostino each paced the Zags with two shots.

Gonzaga will close out the regular season 1 p.m. next Saturday, hosting Santa Clara University at the Gonzaga Soccer Stadium.
