Braun Joins Gonzaga WSOC

Braun played in the High School All-American game in 2017. She earned All-State honors in 2016 and 2017 and was tabbed All-Metro League first team. She was a four-year varsity starter at Jesuit High School. As one of the captains of the Jesuit, she led the team to two state championships in sophomore and senior seasons. During her senior year, Jesuit climbed to No. 2 in the USA Today and TopDrawer Soccer national ranking. Braun helped Jesuit break the OSAA record for goals scored in a single season (86). She scored 43 goals in her high school career, with 54 assists.
In the classroom, Braun boasted a 3.99 GPA and was an honor roll student for four years. She was a member of National Hispanic Recognition Program and the National Honor Society.
Braun played for the FC Portland ECNL and the Portland Thorns Development Academy club teams. She scored 13 goals and recorded 18 assists during club play.
"As soon as I stepped onto the campus I knew Gonzaga was the school for me," Braun said. "I loved the strong sense of community both on the soccer team and throughout the school. The coaches and the entire athletic staff are very supportive. I'm super excited to further myself both on and off the field at Gonzaga."
"Sophia comes to us as a High School All American," Watkins said. "She has great technical skill and shows incredible composure with the ball."
