Walker Loseno Helps Greek National Team Advance
March 18, 2003 PORTUGAL - Gonzaga University sophomore midfielder Walker Amalia Loseno, a member of the Greek National Team, helped her team advance in the Algarve Cup in Portugal over the weekend. Greece tied Ireland 0-0 in the first match and was ahead of Portugal 1-0 until the final minute before tying Portgual 1-1. Greece defeated Wales 2-0 Tuesday and will advance to play for the 7th place spot against the Canadadian National Team Thursday. The 5-5 Renton, Wash., native was selected as a member of the Greek National Team last July. Walker has been starting and playing outside right back. In anticipation for hosting the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the Greek Soccer Federation has decided to include on the Olympic Women's Soccer team players of Greek ancestry living outside of Greece.
