LAST WEEK: Gonzaga University went 0-0-2 last week, playing to back-to-back scoreless ties for just the second time in the program's 18-year history. The Bulldogs played to 0-0 draws with Idaho State University last Friday and Weber State University this past Sunday.

AMES EARNS WEEKLY HONOR: Gonzaga University women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Ames was named the West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after posting her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season this past weekend. The Albuquerque, N.M. native earned her first career weekly honor after she turned away seven shots in the 0-0 tie at Idaho State University on Friday and made a career-high 12 saves in the Zags' scoreless draw at Weber State University Sunday. Ames now ranks third on Gonzaga's all-time shutout list with seven. She enters the week tied for second in the WCC in shutouts (5) and third in saves (57) and GAA (1.03).

ABOUT THE PORTLAND PILOTS: The University of Portland enters the week ranked third in the NSCAA/adidas national poll with a 10-1-0 overall record and will play its lone match of the week against Gonzaga University. The Pilots lead the all time series 16-0-0 over the Bulldogs after taking last year's meeting in Portland 3-1. Danielle Foxhoven enters the week leading the West Coast Conference in goals (11) and points (24). Sixth year head coach Garrett Smith owns a 106-16-7 career record for the Pilots.

THE ZAGS AND RANKED OPPONENTS: Gonzaga University will face its second ranked opponent of the season this weekend, matching up with third ranked University of Portland Sunday. The Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker 1-0 to 21st ranked University of Colorado at the Colorado Soccer Classic Sept. 19. CU recorded the match-winner with less than five minutes left in regulation to earn a 1-0 win. Last season, the Zags posted a 2-1 victory over #21 Santa Clara University to pick its first win against a ranked opponent in over two years. Gonzaga owns a 5-45-1 all-time mark against ranked opponents with all five wins coming during head coach Shannon Stiles' tenure.

MAKING THEM COUNT: All three goals scored by Gonzaga University sophomore Sheridan Jones this season have been match-winners. The three goals also set a new career high, surpassing her two scores of last season. Her first goal of the season came in the Zags 3-1 win at the University of Idaho Aug. 29, her second was the lone score of the match in GU's 1-0 win over California State Bakersfield Sept. 7, and her latest netter gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 double overtime win over Eastern Washington University this past Sunday. The Hillsboro, Ore. native enters the week leading the WCC in match-winners (3) and in shots (41). Jones also leads the team in goals, points (7) and shots-on-goal (16).

THREE FIRSTS FOR THE ZAGS: Three players have recorded their first career goals for Gonzaga University this season. Freshman Sarah Rhodes recorded her first career netter after she took a pass from junior Christi D'Agostino and found the left corner of the net for what proved to be the match-winner for GU in the 1-0 win over the University of Montana Sept. 12. D'Agostino and redshirt freshman Katie Spangenberg also have recorded their first career goals for the Zags this season. D'Agostino's goal proved to be match-winner in the Zags' 1-0 win over Portland State University on Aug. 24 and Spangenberg picked up her first career netter against the University of Washington Aug. 31.
