LAST WEEK: Gonzaga University went 0-1-0 last week, dropping a 3-2 decision to 14th ranked University of San Diego in their final home match of the season last Friday. Freshman Courtney Peacock recorded her third score of the season and fellow freshman Caitlyn Salo became the fifth Bulldog to record her first career netter this season for the Zags.

YET ANOTHER FIRST FOR THE ZAGS: Five players have now recorded their first career goals for Gonzaga University this season. Freshman Caitlyn Salo became the latest Bulldog to do so in last Friday's match. Salo joins freshmen Courtney Peacock, Sarah Rhodes, redshirt freshman Katie Spangenberg and junior Christi D'Agostino to record their first career netters this season. Peacock posted two goals in the Oct. 24 4-3 overtime win against Saint Mary's College, Rhodes recorded her first career netter in the 1-0 win over the University of Montana Sept. 12. D'Agostino's goal came in the 1-0 win over Portland State University on Aug. 24 and Spangenberg picked up her first career netter against the University of Washington Aug. 31.

ABOUT THE SANTA CLARA BRONCOS: The Santa Clara University Broncos enter their final match of the regular season with an 4-12-3 overall record and 1-4-1 in West Coast Conference play. SCU owns the all-time series against Gonzaga University 13-1-1 but the Zags earned the programs first ever win over SCU last season, 2-1 in Spokane. Katherine Reynolds comes into the match leading the Broncos with 10 total points and four assists while Jenny Laponte paces SCU with four goals. Head coach Jerry Smith owns a 342-102-33 overall record now in his 22nd season.

SCHEDULE TURNING OUT TO BE QUITE TOUGH: Gonzaga University has played seven teams that appear in the top 50 of the NCAA RPI rankings. In this week's RPI rankings, the University of Portland was ranked 5th, the University of Colorado was 17th, the University of Washington 18th, Long Beach State University 20th, the University of San Diego 23rd, the University of Denver 35th and Washington State University 44th. Eight Bulldog opponents have appeared in at least one top 25 national poll this season.

SOLID STREAK WILL COME TO AN END: For the past five seasons Gonzaga University has finished each year with 10 or more wins beginning with the 2003 season. The Zags won 56 matches in that span, averaging just over 11 wins a season and set the school-record for wins in season with 12 in 2005 and 2007. This year, with just one regular season match remaining the Zags can finish with no more than eight total wins which win or lose would tie for the sixth highest total in the program's 18-year history. With a win over Santa Clara University the Bulldogs can tie for the school-record for the most West Coast Conference wins in a season with three.

MAKING THEM COUNT: All three goals scored by Gonzaga University sophomore Sheridan Jones this season have been match-winners. The three goals also set a new career high, surpassing her two scores of last season. Jones posted match-winners at the University of Idaho, against California State Bakersfield and in double overtime against Eastern Washington University. The Hillsboro, Ore. native enters the week tied for fifth in the West Coast Conference in match-winners and in shots (46). She also leads the team in goals, assists (4), points (10) and shots-on-goal (20).

AIMING HER WAY UP THE CHARTS: Gonzaga University women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Ames has posted six shutouts this season, tying her for the third most shutouts by a Bulldog keeper in a single season. She has posted eight shutouts in her career ranking as the third most in Gonzaga history. The Albuquerque, N.M. native earned her first career West Coast Conference Player of the Week honor Oct. 6 after she posted two shutouts that week, turning away seven shots at Idaho State University and made a career-high 12 saves at Weber State University. Ames enters the final week of the regular season third in the WCC in saves (76) and fourth in shutouts (6).
