D.J. Gurule is entering his fifth year at the helm of the Gonzaga University women's tennis program. Under Gurule's guidance, six Bulldogs have earned All-West Coast Conference accolades including the program's first ever All-WCC second team selection, Aglaya Kokurina, in 2008. Also in 2008, the Zags were named to the International Tennis Association All-Academic team. In each of Gurule's four seasons, at least one player has earned All-WCC honors and for the past two seasons, at least one player has been placed on the WCC All-Academic team. Gurule joined the Bulldogs athletic staff after working one year as a club professional at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, Ore. Gurule also worked for four years as the head tennis professional at Broken Top in Bend, Ore., and served three seasons as the women's tennis coach at Mountain View High in Bend. Gurule played collegiate tennis at Pacific Lutheran University earning four varsity letters for the Lutes. Gurule and his wife, Katie, reside in Spokane with their daughter, Eliana (2008). |
