Feb. 14, 2009
EL PASO, Tex. – Sophomore Rika Mehndiratta’s win at number two singles clinched a 4-3 victory for the Gonzaga University women’s tennis team over the University of Northern Colorado at the UTEP Tennis Classic Saturday afternoon. Mehndiratta posted a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win in the final match of day between the Bulldogs (2-1) and Bears. The Zags won two of the three doubles matches to earn the point then won two of the final three singles matches, capped by Mehndiratta’s win, to clinch the match. Sophomore Clare Dodge and freshman Kristina Zauere each improved their singles records to 3-0 on the season after recording wins at number six singles and number four singles in the match, respectively. “I am very happy with our effort, everyone played well today,” said head coach D.J.
