Bulldogs Drop UTEP Classic Finale

EL PASO, Tex. – The Gonzaga University women’s tennis team dropped its final match at the UTEP Tennis Classic to hosts UTEP 7-0 Sunday morning. The Zags (2-2) had won two of their first three matches of the season before suffering the setback to the Miners (6-1). The Bulldogs were led by the doubles pairing of freshmen Kristina Zauere and Madeline Parker who posted an 8-5 win at number three doubles. Senior Aglaya Kokurina and Zauere each battled to force a third set in their respective number one and number three singles matches, both of which fell as UTEP swept the singles matches en route to picking up the victory. Sophomore Clare Dodge and Zauere each suffered their first defeats of the season after both players entered Sunday with 3-0 records in dual match play.
