CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team had senior Aglaya Kokurina claim the #1 Singles title and freshman Kristina Zauere win the #3 Singles title at the GU/EWU Classic held at Eastern Washington University Sunday.

Kokurina beat Megan Sporndli from the University of Portland 6-3, 6-1 to claim the top spot in the #1 Singles bracket. Zauere claimed the #3 Singles title with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jana Siwa from the University of Idaho. Kokurina and Zauere each posted perfect 4-0 records in the classic.

Sophomore Clare Dodge dropped her #2 Singles championship bracket match to Portland's Stefanie Doolittle. Dodge finished the classic with a 3-1 record. Sophomore Rika Mehndiratta beat University of Montana's Amanda Bran 7-5, 6-1 to claim the top spot in the #1 Singles Consolation bracket.

Sophomore Laura Housinger played well but dropped her #3 Singles Consolation Final match with Lauren Gibson from Montana 6-1, 6-3. In #2 singles consolation action, freshman Monica Price posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Seattle University's Whitney Cheng.

The freshmen pairing of Sophie Lantta and Madeline Parker won their Consolation semifinal match over Idaho 8-3 but dropped a well played match 8-6 to Eastern Washington in the Consolation finals.

It is the second consecutive week that a Gonzaga player has claimed a Singles title after Price won the #4 Singles bracket at the Cougar Classic last weekend. The Bulldogs resume their fall schedule at the St. Mary's Classic in Moraga, Calif. Oct. 10-12.
