Apollo Earns Weekly WCC Honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif.--Sophomore Nevada Apollo earned West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week honors after two dominating performances for Gonzaga's women's tennis team last weekend.
Apollo won 24 of 30 games played last weekend en route to two big victories: a 6-1, 6-2 win over Eastern Washington's Erin Blessing and a 6-2, 6-1 performance against Seattle U's Madison Maloney. Both wins came at No. 2 singles, and both came early during a pair of 7-0 sweeps by the Zags. With the two victories, the Las Vegas native advanced to 9-0 inside The Stevens Center this season, and she moved into a tie for first on the team with 12 overall singles victories.
She is the third Zag in program history to earn WCC Singles Player of the Week honors. Both previous awards came during the 2016 season.
Apollo and the rest of the Zags are back in action Friday, Feb. 17, with a home contest against Idaho. That match will begin at 5:00 p.m. at The Stevens Center. Live stats and video may be found on www.GoZags.com.
