Women’s Tennis Takes on Two Top 25s in Kansas

SPOKANE, Wash.— Gonzaga women’s tennis is headed on the road this weekend to the Sunflower State, where they will face No. 21 Wichita State on Saturday and, No. 20 Kansas on Sunday at Jayhawk Tennis Complex in Lawrence Kan.

The matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday against the Shockers and 10 a.m. Sunday against the host Jayhawks.

The Bulldogs are looking to continue a five-match winning streak, following a 4-2 victory over BYU this past weekend. In singles play, Nevada Apollo earned her 12th straight victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Haruna Tsuruta dominated her match with a 6-4, 6-2 win, along with Kate Ketels as she earned a 6-1, 6-4 win. It was Whittle who clinched the match for the Zags with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.

No. 21 Wichita State is currently 10-3 overall on the season, following a 7-0 sweep of Colorado this past weekend. The Shockers will face the Jayhawks on Friday.

No. 20 Kansas is 5-3 in dual play, with a 6-1 win over Purdue after falling to No. 27 Arkansas 3-4.
