FORT WORTH, Texas - The Gonzaga University women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches after the Bulldogs swept Alcorn State University in its opening match of the TCU Tournament on Friday. The seven-match win streak equals the Bulldogs longest win streak in school history set in 1994 when they won seven in a row near the end of the season. With the 30-5, 30-12, 30-21 victory, the Zags improved its record to 9-3, while the Braves fell to 0-7 on the season.

Each Bulldog contributed to the lopsided victory. Leading the way for Gonzaga was redshirt freshman Caitlin Cozad who collected a career-high 12 kills. Cozad, who also added one dig and one block assist, finished the contest with a .550 hitting clip. Senior classmates Briawna Mueller and Becky Jones added eight and six kills, respectively.

Heather Dunn passed out 38 assists as the Zags closed out the match with 47 total team kills and a .457 attacking percentage. It is the highest match hitting percentage for Gonzaga in at least 10 seasons.

Leading the way defensively for GU was senior Alecia Douglas and Mueller. Douglas had a match-high nine digs in the victory, while Mueller finished with two block assists.

The Bulldogs limited Alcorn State to just 11 total kills and a -.100 attacking percentage for the match. Jarquita Copeland led the way for the Braves with three total kills and two block assists. Valencia Wise and Jessica Frierson combined for nine out of Alcorn State's 11 assists.

Gonzaga will continue the TCU Tournament Saturday, Sept. 15 with matches against both Sam Houston State University (9:30 a.m.) and TCU (5 p.m.).
