SPOKANE, Wash. - Three University of San Diego players finished with double figure kills to help the 15th ranked Toreros sweep a West Coast Conference women's volleyball match over Gonzaga University in Spokane Saturday afternoon. San Diego won 25-10, 25-13, 25-20 to improve its record to 18-3 overall and 8-1 in the WCC. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Bulldogs and dropped their record to 9-17 overall, 2-7 in conference.

Junior Layne Broksy was the only Gonzaga player to finish the match with double figure kills, collecting 10 on the day. Besides Brosky, both senior Elaina Renius and junior Michelle Boevers were bright spots for the Zags finishing with eight and seven kills, respectively. Freshman Denise Van de Mortel passed out 26 assists as Gonzaga combined for just 31 kills in the three-set defeat. GU hit .156 for the match.

San Diego's offense was on point during the match as the Toreros hit over .450 in all three sets for a match percentage of .494. The Toreros were led by Ali Troost with a match-high 12 kills and Colleen Carlson with 10 kills and a match-best .588 attacking clip. Amy DeGroot also added 10 kills and was two digs shy of a double-double, finishing with eight. Jessica Nyrop passed out 40 of USD's 46 assists as the Toreros closed out the match with 48 team kills.

The Bulldogs hit the road for two West Coast Conference matches next week. GU will play at Santa Clara University Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and then at Saint Mary's College on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
