Stevi Robinson Named Volleyball Assistant Coach
Feb. 14, 2018
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga volleyball head coach Diane Nelson announced the hiring of Stevi Robinson as an assistant coach on Wednesday. A former Pepperdine standout as a student-athlete, Robinson comes to GU from The Citadel, where she assisted for two seasons.
"I want to thank Diane Nelson and Gonzaga University for offering me a chance to be a part of the volleyball program," Robinson said. "There are a lot of great things happening in the program, and I am very excited to join Diane, Drew and the team. The success in academics and athletics at Gonzaga, and the chance to be back in the WCC, attracted me to this position right away. The WCC is a great conference with great competition, and I am looking forward to helping Gonzaga win a WCC championship."
Robinson, a California native, is a former member of the USA Women's Indoor National Volleyball Team and prior to coaching was the starting libero for Allianz MTV Stuttgart, a German professional squad.
"We are beyond excited to have Stevi on board at Gonzaga," Nelson said. "Her energy and enthusiasm, along with her experience playing at a high level, brings a fresh perspective to our gym. She will come in and ignite a fire with our program immediately."
She played both indoor volleyball and sand volleyball during a decorated career at Pepperdine University. A two-time West Coast Conference Libero of the Year, Robinson finished as the Waves' all-time digs leader with 1,750, playing in 111 matches and more than 400 sets. She earned All-WCC honorable mention honors for four consecutive indoor seasons and garnered All-Tournament recognition at the NCAA's 2011 Honolulu Regional.
In sand volleyball, Robinson helped Pepperdine capture the AVCA Sand Team National Championship, going 2-0 in her matches. After graduating with a degree in public relations, Robinson pursued her Master's at the University of Southern California and wrapped up her athletic eligibility by competing on the Trojans' sand volleyball team. At USC, Robinson was a 2013 AVCA Pairs Sand National Champion and AVCA All-American.
Her success in college paved the way for a professional opportunity playing volleyball. In addition to her USA National Indoor experience, Robinson spent time on the USA Beach U26 Elite 8 Training Team in 2013 before heading overseas to compete in Germany.
