Wimbush Set to Play in World University Games

SPOKANE, Wash.—Recent Gonzaga volleyball alum Imani Wimbush was named to the United States roster for the 2017 World University Games.
Wimbush, an outside hitter for the Zags from 2012-16, is one of 12 players on Team USA. As a Bulldog, the Honolulu, Hawaii, native totaled 560 kills and 302 blocks and finished as one of just four Zags to tally 500+ kills and 300+ blocks in the rally scoring era. She set career highs as a senior in 2016 with 196 kills and 1.94 kills per set after moving from middle blocker to outside hitter.
The 2017 World University Games will run August 19-30 in Taipei, Taiwan. Team USA’s first match will take place Monday, Aug. 21 against Japan (3:00 p.m. local time, 12:00 a.m. midnight Pacific). Remaining pool matches – both of which will also start at 3:00 p.m. local – include Tuesday, Aug. 22 versus Latvia and Wednesday, Aug. 23 versus Thailand, and the elimination rounds begin Friday, Aug. 25.
